It’s been 98 years since the sinking of the Titanic and the world continues to be intrigued. Father Gerry Bechard, the only priest to say mass over the site of the wreck, has had a lifelong interest in the ship, her tragic sail, the factors that led to the accident, and the “what ifs” that surround the narrative. He shares his fascination, facts, and materials as he revisits the stories. Father Bechard, a pastor of Saints Simon and Jude Parish in Westland, has been an ordained priest in the Archdiocese of Detroit for 30 years. Picnic-fare lunch followed by presentation and discussion.
