| As the common name, wedding cake lichen, suggests, this lichen has podetia with tiers of cups, each proliferating from the center of the cup below. The brownish-gray cups lack soredia, but often have a few squamules on the stems. Brown fruits may form on the margins of the cups. The primary squamules are small and persistent. |
