| C. coniocraea is distinctive in that it has slender, unbranched podietia arising from the center of large, dark-green squamules. The podietia are covered with powdery soredia on the upper parts with the lower parts being corticate. Black pycnidia are common and brown apothecia are uncommon. This lichen is often found at the bases of large trees or along shady slopes. |
