| This brownish-gray lichen has podetia with large, shallow cups that have distinctive, gaping holes in the inside surface of the cup. The cups proliferate at the margins and have dark brown fruits at the tips of the proliferations. Squamules are present on the stems, which lack soredia. Primary squamules are average-sized, scant and persistent. |
