| Although this lichen resembles the Cladinas with which it grows, it has a shiny cortex that easily sets it apart. Short terminal branchlets form star-shaped tips with gaping holes. Large yellowish green mats, 20 to 30 cm across, are common on sandy soils in open fields. |
