| This ubiquitous lichen is small but very distinctive. It has upturned, inflated lobe tips and projecting cilia that make it resemble a cobra, complete with fangs. The thallus consists of narrow mineral gray lobes with marginal whitish cilia that darken at the ends. Soralia are present beneath the inflated lobe tips. The lower surface of the thallus is white with sparse rhizines. |
