| P. detersa is a foliose lichen with a distinctive radiating pattern of coarse soredia along the wavy lobe margins and pruina at the lobe tips. It is gray to brown when dry and green when wet. The lower surface is black with tan margins. Numerous white-tipped, black rhizines attach this common lichen firmly to hardwood trees along roadsides. |
