| X. elegans is a beautiful bright orange foliose lichen. It forms colorful rosettes that are firmly attached to rocks, stone walls and tombstones. The lobes are narrow and crowded on a circular thallus. Apothecia are numerous in the center of the thallus. The lower surface is white with a few short rhizines. |
