| Xanthoria fallax adorns roadside trees by making entire trunks a beautiful bright orange. In more shaded areas, the thallus is a more greenish-yellow color. Soredia form under raised edges of the rather coarse lobes. The lower surface is white with numerous rhizines. Apothecia are rare. |
