Mystery Photo report from the NMC Archives
Emails and telephone calls poured in after the Winter 2012 issue of the NorWester went online and hit your mailboxes. Several people let us know about a mistake in the photo of the 1962 Ski Club. Everyone agreed that photo was taken at Holiday Hills, not Nubs Nob. We even heard from Ann Rogers (pictured without skis), who is standing next to her husband, ski club advisor Joe Rogers.
Others wrote to help us identify people in the two mystery photos on the back of the publication. All three girls in the front row of the Arlo Moss biology class have been identified. All agree that it was either 1974 or 1975. From left to right they are: Grace M. Haggart, Carol Tompkins Parker and Laurie Conant Wagner. Grace was in the parks & recreation program and now is a pastor and owner of a small resort in Arkansas. Laurie’s nephew is Jim Nelson, who currently teaches math at NMC.
There is no consensus on the date of the Jack Ozegovic class photo but it is in the 1973–'75 range. The female in the front has not been identified, or the student partially hidden behind Jack. Otherwise, from left to right clockwise are visiting artist John Sommers (courtesy of Jack Ozegovic), Roger Kolehouse, Jack Ozegovic and Jerl Richmond.
It was wonderful to hear from you all, with each contributing a piece or two of the puzzles. Many mentioned the positive influence these instructors and NMC had on their lives, including this quote from Lorraine Fedorchak-Kraker: “The best teachers in the WORLD were at NMC.”
