These sources provide free access to a variety of ebooks. You do not need an ereader, but can view these books anywhere, anytime from your web browser. To access ebooks available through Osterlin Library subscriptions, use your NMCID for remote access.

  • The EServer – full-text searching of over 35,000 works on many subjects
  • Google Books – some full-text searching of scholarly ebooks, and previews of many new ebooks (note: not all books allow full-text searching)
  • The Online Books Page – search for ebooks by subject
  • Hathi Trust – full-text books, digitized by great academic research libraries like the University of Michigan
  • Project Gutenberg – downloadable ebooks on history and literature searchable by author or title
  • Bartleby.com – literary fiction, nonfiction, verse, and reference
