Inuit art travels to Detroit Zoo

TRAVERSE CITY -- A traveling exhibition of Inuit art, the signature collection of the Dennos Museum Center, is now on display at the Detroit Zoo's Ford Education Center through Jan. 16.

Titled "Expressions of Arctic Tradition: Contemporary Inuit Art," the 80 prints, sculptures and artifacts in the exhibit depict seals, whales, polar bears, birds and other Arctic animals. Admission to the exhibit is included with regular Zoo admission.

The Dennos boasts one of the country’s largest and most historically complete collections of contemporary Inuit art. This traveling exhibition, initially curated in 1993, has journeyed as far as Bermuda.
