NMC Foundation exceeds Annual Campaign goal
TRAVERSE CITY – Thanks to the generosity of more than 670 donors, the Northwestern Michigan College Foundation exceeded its $450,000 goal for the 2012-13 Annual Campaign.
Chaired by NMC alumnus Steve Rawlings of DTE Energy and Sara Harding of FIM Group, more than $465,000 was raised for scholarships and programs at NMC.
“We are continually gratified by the support this community bestows on NMC,” said Rebecca Teahen, executive director of the NMC Foundation.
Scholarship recipient Ryan Byers, who graduated this past spring, was one beneficiary.
"The scholarship that I was so generously gifted has helped me not only to go to school and further my education, but gives me the opportunity to expound and expand on the different types of experiences that NMC really and truly does have to offer for people like me,” said Byers, a returning student with two young children.
Founded in 1951, NMC was built on a culture of philanthropy. NMC now serves more than 10,000 learners every year who come to NMC for degrees and certificates, professional development, non-credit personal enrichment classes and cultural opportunities at the Dennos Museum Center. The 2013-14 Annual Fund campaign will kick off in September.
