Golfers, sponsors wanted for NMC Scholarship Open

TRAVERSE CITY — Northwestern Michigan College invites both players and sponsors to participate in the 33rd annual Scholarship Open, set for Aug. 1 at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, ranked as one of the top 75 golf resorts in North America by Golf Digest.

Organized by a committee of about 20 community volunteers, the event benefits merit-based scholarships at NMC. The Open has raised more than $1 million for student scholarships since it began in 1980.

The tournament has an 10 a.m. shotgun start on both The Bear and The Wolverine courses. Greens fees are $200 per person and include 18 holes with cart and the following:

  • Golfer gift
  • Light breakfast and coffee
  • Lunch at grill stations on the course
  • Three drink tickets to use on wine, beer, or soft drinks throughout the day PLUS tasting stations on the course courtesy of Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Brys Estates, Peninsula Cellars, and the Filling Station
  • Post-tournament reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres, lots of great prizes, including a $1,000 airfare voucher, and more delicious food from Jimmy Johns and Moomer’s Homemade Ice Cream
