NMC, high school art shows close at Dennos

TRAVERSE CITY — The annual Northwestern Michigan College Art Exhibition and companion area High School Student Art Exhibition will be held at the Dennos Museum Center from May 16 to May 27 with an artists' reception on May 18 at 5 p.m..

This is an exhibition of artwork made by NMC students and an additional exhibition of works by area high school juniors and seniors. Students may enter works in the following categories: painting, jewelry, ceramics/sculpture, photography/digital photo, drawing, printmaking, illustration, graphic design, animation/film and group projects.

The high school student show will be juried by NMC art faculty. The NMC student show will be juried by painter Angela Saxon, who has worked as a designer and fine artist for many years in the area and shows all over the country, and graphic design jurors Eric Campbell and Jacquie Auch from Proof Positive Brand Design in Traverse City. 

NMC show winners:

  • Renee Martin, first place (ceramics)
  • Jettarin Issaravinich, second place (watercolor)
  • Karina Hissong, second place (drawing)
  • Rachel Esckelson, third place (animation/film)
