CDA Training Classes Offered

TRAVERSE CITY — T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Michigan, Northwestern Michigan College, and Great Start to Quality are partnering to offer high quality Child Development Associate (CDA) training to meet the needs of early care end education providers in Northwest Michigan.

Classes start soon and offer:

  • Traditional CDA training sessions and format facilitated by Melissa Thiebaut with NMC faculty support, resources, and facilities.
  • 120 clock hours of training required by the Council for Professional Recognition while earning 9 college credits that apply toward an Early Childhood Education Associates Degree.
  • T.E.A.C.H. scholarships will cover most or all of the cost for the training and credits, books, and the credential assessment fee.

Class dates include: September 8 & 22, October 6 & 20, November 3 & 17, December 8, January 12 & 26, February 2 & 16, and March 2 & 16. Orientation dates are on August 18 and September 8.

Steps to begin the CDA Cohort Experience:

  1. Contact Cheryl Bloomquist at: cbloomquist@nmc.edu to get answers to your questions and start the application process.
  2. Complete application at Northwestern Michigan College as a non-degree student online. Find the application at the web page links listed below.
  3. Plan to attend the required CDA Cohort orientation and registration sessions on August 18 or September 8. A T.E.A.C.H. representative will be available to assist with the scholarship application process at orientation.
