Paramedic Program Requirements

Admission Requirements

  • Obtain Basic EMT license and complete two years’ experience or 200 + documented emergency patient contacts.
  • Complete an application for admissions through NMC.
  • Request to have an official high school transcript sent to the Admissions Office.
  • Once an admission letter is obtained, schedule an orientation session.
  • Take the COMPASS test or submit your ACT scores prior to orientation.
  • Meet with an academic advisor.
  • Bring COMPASS scores to paramedic program contact at Munson Regional EMS.

COMPASS or ACT Test Requirements

Students must complete either the COMPASS or ACT Test:

  • COMPASS: Math: 41 or above in Algebra. Students must place into MTH 111 Intermediate Algebra. If they do not, students must take MTH 23 Beginning Algebra and earn a 2.0 or better.
  • ACT: ACT score of 24 for Math (within 5 years).

Program Completion

  • Complete at least 60 credit hours with a 2.0 or higher cumulative grade point average.
  • Complete a minimum of 15 of the 60 credits through NMC.
  • Apply for graduation by completing the Application for Degree available online or in the Records & Registration Office on the main floor of the Tanis Building.
  • Request an official document from Munson Regional EMS contact to confirm successful completion of the Paramedic program.
  • Submit a copy of your Paramedic license the NMC Records & Registration Office.

*Program Notes:

  • For students planning to continue in the medical field or planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree, MTH 111 and BIO 227 and 228 (Anatomy & Physiology) are recommended.
  • For students planning to continue in nursing at NMC, PSY 101 and PHL 202 are recommended.
  • In order for the paramedic courses to transfer, the student must present a copy of a current Paramedic License.
