Available for academic credit or as continuing education.
Learn to be a referee. Gain the essential knowledge and skills needed in preparation for MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) certification in officiating basketball. Successful students will receive an NMC certificate of completion and be prepared to take the MHSAA certification exam.
The program is designed with the first two weeks (15 hours) in the classroom followed by a four-week internship (30 hours) of officiating for elementary school girls or boys basketball games in TCAPS schools.
Classroom topics are based on the MHSAA Legacy Student Officials Program and include rules of play, mechanics, communication, court position, uniform/equipment requirements, court etiquette, and more.
The internship portion of the class consists of 30-hours of mentored practical experience in a local elementary school officiating girls or boys basketball games.

Four-week officiating internship to be arranged.
For Academic Credit - The cost is based on 3 contact hours.
