Be On The Cutting Edge Of Fast-growing Technology

Drones or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), are an exciting new technology making their way into a large number of industries. They are playing increasing roles in real estate, agriculture, insurance, construction, city planning, movie production, emergency response, and are one of the fastest growing tech markets in the U.S. The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International states that the commercial UAS drone industry is expected to create more than 100,000 jobs over the next decade.

New FAA Regulations In Effect

The Federal Aviation Administration's new regulations to operate drones went into effect August 29, 2016. Drone operators will have to pass an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) aeronautical knowledge test to legally fly drones commercially. New rules allow operators to obtain a remote pilot certificate after passing an FAA knowledge exam.

Prepare To Pass The Test On Your First Try

Testing centers nationwide can administer the Aeronautical Knowledge Test required under Part 107. The exam and test prep courses are  offered at Northwestern Michigan College. Would-be pilots study up on the requirements, aerial rules, and general knowledge about aviation before taking the test. After an operator passes the test, he or she completes an FAA application to receive a remote pilot certificate.
