FAA Drone Pilot Certificate
New FAA regulations in effect
The Federal Aviation Administration's new regulations to operate drones went into effect August 29, 2016. Drone operators will have to pass an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) aeronautical knowledge test to legally fly drones commercially. New rules allow operators to obtain a remote pilot certificate after passing an FAA knowledge exam. Read the FAA news release here »
prepare to pass the test on your first try
Testing centers nationwide can administer the Aeronautical Knowledge Test required under Part 107. The exam and test prep courses are now offered at Northwestern Michigan College. Would-be pilots study up on the requirements, aerial rules, and general knowledge about aviation before taking the test. After an operator passes the test, he or she completes an FAA application to receive a remote pilot certificate.
