EESA 869 -- Two Views of Society: We're in This Together vs. You're on Your Own -- Feb. 15 to Feb. 15

What we view as normal, useful, even exemplary behavior is an important element of our society. We celebrate virtues of achievement, individual freedom, and getting ahead. A critical feature of society is the balance that is struck between the dynamism of individual freedom and drive and the solidarity and community that come from trust, neighborliness, and regard for the larger good. We’ll lay out the central features of each side of the equation and explore examples of balance.
