Pura Vida: NMC Water Studies Goes to Costa Rica
The LIFE Academy of Northwestern Michigan College hosts a luncheon on Friday, September 23 from noon to 1:30 p.m. featuring the NMC Freshwater Studies students' trip to Costa Rica with guest speakers, Dr. Constanza Hazelwood and Bruce Holland-Moritz. The luncheon takes place at NMC's Great Lakes Campus, Rm. 112.
Do you know why Costa Rica is “Pura Vida?” This question opened the door to explore how Costa Rica is managing water resources. Learn about the first discovery trip taken by NMC’s Freshwater Studies students and Dr. Constanza Hazelwood to explore water challenges in dry (Pacific) and humid (Atlantic) regions and water management practices in integrated farms. What was learned and how might it apply here? Dr. Hazelwood and Bruce Holland-Moritz, a Freshwater Studies student, share insights and adventures with you.
Cost is $19 and includes lunch. If you prefer, you may bring your own lunch and attend for $9. To register, call NMC Extended Education at (231) 995-1700 or stop by the University Center on Cass Road, suite 108.
