Eco-friendly events

Consider the following tips and ideas for your next Hagerty center event:

  • Use shuttle service if transporting your group to an off-site event or, if weather permits, simply walk to our beautiful downtown area 10 minutes away.
  • Order beverages in "bulk." For example, instead of using bottled water, let us provide standard ice water service in large iced dispensers or in carafes.
  • Instead of ordering "boxed lunches," let us provide one of our buffet style lunches.
  • The Hagerty Center prefers to use linen and china for all events possible to avoid disposable products and other waste materials.
  • Send pre and post-event correspondence for your event electronically rather than using paper methods.
  • Be sure to utilize on-site paper recycling containers, located in our entry atrium, registration area and in the meeting and dining areas.
  • While at the Hagerty Center, please let us know if you have and additional recycling needs for plastic, glass, cardboard, metal or e-waste materials with which we may be able to assist.
  • Help us promote Hagerty Center's recycling resources and green initiatives to attendees and guests in pre-event materials and advertising, as well as with on-site programs or agendas.
  • Keep hand-out materials to a minimum and print copies on a double-sided format.
  • Encourage speakers to collect business cards so that presentation materials may be e-mailed during or after the event.
  • Utilize paper with a recycled content of 20 percent or higher for any printed event materials and handouts.
  • Collect any plastic name badge holders at the end of your event for reuse or recycling.
  • Request that exhibitors have give-a-ways that are reusable or are made from recycled materials.
  • Discourage exhibitors from bringing large quantities of collateral, which often ends up as waste at the end of the show.
  • Suggest that exhibitors avoid printing dates or slogans on exhibit materials so that they may be more easily reused.
  • Recognize exhibitors, vendors or other participants in event program and post event materials who contribute to "green" initiatives during event.
