Program: Physical Therapy

Central Michigan University's Physical Therapy program is a Doctoral level program. You may enroll in one of numerous undergraduate majors such as Biology, Health, Chemistry, Psychology, etc. You will earn a Bachelors degree with a major of your choice (in consultation with the P.T. Advisor), and earn a Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy upon completion of the P.T. program. The P.T. program is highly competitive. Last year, the average GPA for acceptance was a 3.63.

Applicants will need a minimum of 50 hours exploring physical therapy as a career in at least two different professional settings. This can include volunteer work, observation hours, and/or work experience with a licensed physical therapist, as well as interviews and professional journal reading. If you have questions please contact the Physical Therapy program at CMU.

It is highly recommended you contact CMU as early in your academic career as possible.

Admission Criteria

  1. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0. All courses must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to transfer to CMU.
  2. This is a doctoral program. To be considered for admission, students must have completed or be in the final stages of completing an undergraduate degree, a minimum of 50 career exploration hours, and the GRE (Graduate Requisite Exam).
  3. Transfer students must complete graduation competencies for CMU (Eng 111, 112; Com 111; Mth 111) at NMC or they will be required to complete these classes during their first or second semester at CMU.

Basic Requirements

Completion of Basic Requirement courses at NMC will fulfill the general requirements at CMU. Upon request at the NMC Records and Registration Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT (MTA) SATISFIED".
