Program: Social Work

The Social Work curriculum is an accredited program and prepares students for Social Work practice as beginning generalist professionals. The BSW employment could be limited in scope and availability. It is advisable to consider a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) in your future plans to work in a specific area within an agency or school environment. A minimum GPA of 2.3 (2.5 in social sciences) is required for admission to this program.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  1. All new students must submit ACT scores unless you have one of the following: 1. Successful completion of both college English (Eng 111) and Mth 23 (or higher) with a 2.0 2. Completion of 60 semester hours of college work, 3. have an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  2. All courses must have a 2.0 in order to transfer to Ferris.
  3. It is strongly recommended that students with transfer credits from other institutions work in conjunction with FSU's advisors. All students should make contact with FSU as early in their academic career as possible. Ferris may allow for course substitutions for courses on this list.

PROGRAM ELECTIVES - Ferris allows 14 elective credits. See a N.M.C. counselor or a Ferris State advisor for assistance in selecting these credits. You may use excess credits from English, Math, Philosophy, Speech, totaling 5 of the 14. If you have credits from another institution (not N.M.C.) they may allow a wide variety of choices for the elective credit.
