Program: Family Relations Education

"Family Relations Education is an applied interdisciplinary approach to the study of family dynamics and the relationships between families and the larger society. It prepares students for careers in education, the ministry, and social service agencies. Those who complete the program are eligible to become certified Family Life Educators as designated by the National Council on Family Relations." This curriculum offers a flexible education experience which may be applied in a variety of fields.

Requirements And Credit Options

The Bachelor of Arts in Family Relations Education is a 124-credit degree. A minimum of 58 transferable credits are required in order to enter SAU’s bachelor degree completion programs. Transferable credits are defined as completed courses at the 100 level or higher receiving a grade of at least 2.0. As part of the 58 to 60 transferable credits, it would be beneficial for a transferring student to complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) at NMC. A student could use classes at Spring Arbor to complete their Associate degree at NMC if necessary. The uniqueness of SAU is that you have a variety of options for completing credits. Up to 30 college credits can be earned based on life learning experience (licenses, seminars, etc.), through CLEP tests, through life learning papers, online courses, or credit earned from other colleges, including NMC. Since every student’s coursework profile is different, students are urged to speak with a Spring Arbor University advisor to better design a personalized plan for completing this degree.
