Program: Physician Assistant

The department of Physician Assistant offers a Master of Science in Medicine in Physician Assistant. In preparation, students will pursue the Physician's Assistant track in the Bachelors of Science, Interdisciplinary Health Services to prepare to apply for admission to the graduate degree program.

Admission Criteria

  1. Completion of WMU application process.
  2. Satisfactory completion of the following courses with a grade of "C" or better:
    1. BIO 115/L – Cell, Plant and Ecosystem Biology
    2. BIO 208/L – Microbiology
    3. BIO 215 – Genetics (lab not required)
    4. BIO 227/L – Anatomy & Physiology I
    5. CHM 150/L – General Chemistry I
    6. CHM 151/L – General Chemistry II
    7. CHM 250/L – Organic Chemistry I (You may take both CHM 250 and CHM 251 at NMC or take a one semester Organic Chemistry at WMU)
    8. CHM 251/L – Organic Chemistry II
    9. MTH 131 – Probability and Statistics
    10. PSY 101 - Introduction to Psychology (pre-requisite for PSY 211)
    11. PSY 211 – Developmental Psychology

Basic Requirements

Completion of the BASIC requirements as listed at NMC will fulfill most of the general requirements at WMU. WMU requires two additional General Education courses at the 300-400 level to be taken at WMU plus an upper level writing requirement (Proficiency #2 at WMU). Upon request at the NMC Records Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT (MTA) SATISFIED".
