NMC Limited Reopening

Governor Whitmer lifted the Stay Home, Stay Safe Order, reopening the state and moving Michigan to phase 4 of the MI Safe Start Plan. At this time, NMC will continue its limited reopening while finalizing safety protocols so we can expand reopening efforts in the future. NMC campuses remain closed to the public for the time being. The College is currently planning several possible scenarios for fall delivery of instruction including face-to-face, hybrid and virtual options.

NMC’s five campuses include:

  • Main - 1701 E. Front St., Traverse City
  • Great Lakes - 715 E. Front St., Traverse City
  • Aero Park - 2600 Aero Park Dr., Traverse City
  • University Center - 2200 Dendrinos Dr., Traverse City
  • Rogers Observatory - 1753 Birmley Road, Traverse City

NMC Extended Education & College for Kids

  • All face-to-face events and classes canceled through the end of May; June events and classes are currently on hold. Please review the EES Refund/Credit Policy located here.
  • Lifelong Learning Campus Day, originally scheduled for Friday, May 8, is canceled.
  • Registration for College for Kids will begin when we have more information about our ability to hold these programs. We have a great lineup of summer classes for kids scheduled for June, July and August.

Event Cancellations & closures

  • NMC's Commencement will be postponed. All commencement-related activities, including Honors Convocation, will also be postponed. The May 2, 2020, commencement ceremony will either be delayed until August 2020, or a double ceremony will be held in May 2021. We will continue to communicate with you as the situation evolves.

The Dennos Museum Center

Following the Governor’s executive orders the Dennos Museum Center will remain closed until further notice. Scheduled events have already been canceled.

We hope to have resources available online in the coming days so that visitors, students, and community members may continue to enjoy our collections during this temporary closure.


Osterlin Library

The Osterlin Library is closed.Currently checked out materials will not be due until after the building reopens. No fines will be levied during the library’s closure. We will contact patrons when we are accepting returns again.


West Hall Innovation Center Update

Following Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Executive Order to Re-Open Construction & Real Estate Safely, construction on the West Hall Innovation Center that had been paused has now resumed as of May 7. Substantial completion is planned for June 12.
