NMC is working through a phased reopening plan for each of its five campuses including:

  • Main - 1701 E. Front St., Traverse City
  • Great Lakes - 715 E. Front St., Traverse City
  • Aero Park - 2600 Aero Park Dr., Traverse City
  • University Center - 2200 Dendrinos Dr., Traverse City
  • Rogers Observatory - 1753 Birmley Road, Traverse City

For Fall 2020, campus buildings have reopened to students with appropriate social distancing and masks required to comply with Governor Whitmer's Executive Order.

Event Cancellations & closures

  • NMC's Spring 2020 Commencement was postponed. All commencement-related activities, including Honors Convocation, have also been postponed.

Dennos Museum Center

The Dennos Museum Center reopened to the general public with limited hours of operation July 1. New operating hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m. During this first phase of reopening, the Rutkowski Discovery Gallery for children, Milliken Auditorium and lobby, and Dutmers Theater remain closed.

Library / Bookstore


The NMC Library opened to NMC students and employees August 17. Remote services are still available.

  • New location: Upper level of the West Hall Innovation Center (#9 on the Main Campus Map)
  • Limited service hours: Monday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.


The NMC Bookstore is open Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Health & Science Building (#7 on the Main Campus Map). Book information is also available online at

West Hall Innovation Center Update

The West Hall Innovation Center on NMC's main campus is open for the Fall 2020 semester. Construction was completed in July, 2020 and services including the library, Hawk Owl Café/Northwest Grind and WNMC radio station have moved in to the building. Read more here.
