COVID-19 Exposure Control Plan Training

NMC has created an Exposure Control Plan training program that all NMC employees are required to take before returning to campus. The training's purpose is to ensure that employees are able to keep themselves, their colleagues, students and visitors as safe as possible by following NMC’s Exposure Control Plan, CDC recommendations and Federal and State guidelines for preventing and reducing the spread of COVID-19. View the training program here.

NOTE: NMC employees must access this training through the Learning Portal to receive credit for completion. For questions or support, please contact the Technology Help Desk at helpdesk@nmc.edu.

Extended Leave Benefits

Find a summary of changes to extended leave benefits here that are due to the coronavirus pandemic and relevant to NMC employees.

Priority Health COVID-19 Coverage

Employees enrolled in Priority Health, your health plan will now fully cover your treatment of COVID-19 in addition to screening and testing.

  • Your plan already covers screening, whether in-person or virtual, at $0 if your doctor orders a COVID-19 test.
  • If a doctor orders testing based upon your screening results, the test will also be administered at no cost to you.
  • In the unfortunate event that you or a loved one on your health plan is diagnosed with this illness, your treatment of COVID-19 will be fully covered at 100%. We will waive all copays, deductibles and coinsurance for inpatient and outpatient COVID-19 treatment from an in-network provider through June 30.

Additionally, for a limited time, get your prescriptions safely with free in-home delivery from Meijer, Walgreens and CVS.

  • Priority Health's online member FAQs have the latest on prescription delivery, coverage details and more.

For All Employees

HR contacted all employees Tuesday, April 14, with more detailed information about employee status for the remainder of the semester.

  • College employees are already categorized into essential and non-reporting/on call classifications.
  • Faculty are essential employees and will continue teaching their classes virtually, with no course/lab work permitted on campus.
  • Virtual instruction of classes will continue through the end of the semester, May 2.

NMC Reopening Plan

NMC is working through a phased reopening plan for each of its five campuses including:

  • Main - 1701 E. Front St., Traverse City
  • Great Lakes - 715 E. Front St., Traverse City
  • Aero Park - 2600 Aero Park Dr., Traverse City
  • University Center - 2200 Dendrinos Dr., Traverse City
  • Rogers Observatory - 1753 Birmley Road, Traverse City

For Fall 2020, campus buildings will reopen to students with appropriate social distancing and masks required to comply with Governor Whitmer's Executive Order.

Return to Campus Survey Results

NMC's Office of Research, Planning, & Effectiveness conducted a Return to Work survey in June to better understand faculty and staff concerns, as well as understand what would make them feel more comfortable about returning to campus when it’s safe do so. Over 75% of faculty and staff provided insight into what they are feeling in the survey. Read the full survey results here.

Drop with Record and incompletes

A decision was made to extend the "Drop with Record" date for Spring, which was originally set at April 3, to May 2. It was communicated to students on Friday, March 20. This is the last date a student can drop and NOT have it calculate into their GPA. It will still show as a W on their transcript, as a record that they attended.

You will also be able to give "Incomplete" grades at the end of the semester if a student continued but needs more time to complete–they will have until the end of Fall under the usual policy.

Event Cancellations & Closures

  • NMC's Spring 2020 Commencement was postponed. All commencement-related activities, including Honors Convocation, have also been postponed.
  • Find an ongoing list of closures and cancellations here.

Personal Counseling

We recognize that this is an anxious and potentially stressful time for our community and want to remind you that we have counseling available through our Employee Assistance Program. Cheryl Rogers at our partner agency, Catholic Human Services, can be contacted there at (231) 947-8387.

Mail Collection Procedures

Starting June 17, mail and delivery services for packages and Stores requisitions will commence daily operations Monday–Thursday following the Stage 2 protocol of NMC's Re-Opening Plan.

Mail delivery will resume to your central location. Due to high volumes, please allow time for us to catch up with deliveries and requests. We appreciate your patience and look forward to taking care of your needs as we slowly ramp back up.

Travel Policies

NMC has suspended all international and domestic business travel for its employees. Follow these procedures.
