Travel suspension policies

As of 3/10/20, NMC NMC suspended all international and domestic business travel for its employees. Follow these procedures:

Pre-Registered Events and Conferences

  • Event Not Canceled
    • Under NMC's travel suspension, employee should not travel/attend and seek refund if possible.
  • Event Canceled
    • If travel was booked on NMC purchasing card, refund will be credited back to the card.
    • If travel was booked on personal credit card, the employee is obligated to return those funds to the College (if reimbursed). Any airfare "credits" must be applied towards your next business trip.
    • Prepaid travel insurance likely won't cover this situation, but please check your coverage and provider to see if a claim is warranted.
  • Event Postponed
    • Monitor event timing and NMC's travel suspension.

Future Travel Arrangements

  • Conference Fees and Registrations
    • HOLD on booking future conferences at this time until NMC re-assesses its travel suspension.
    • Exception: If your conference has a written policy stating any registration fees are refundable for any reason, you may proceed with reserving your seat. Please include the event's refund policy with your request for payment or credit card statement until further notice.
  • Airline
    • HOLD on booking future air travel at this time until NMC re-assesses its travel suspension. Note that most airlines do not issue direct refunds. although they may offer travel credit.

  • Travel Insurance
    • Most travel insurance does not cover trip cancellations due to COVID-19 unless the traveler becomes ill. Accordingly, we do not recommend purchasing or "adding on" travel insurance for future travel.
