Staycation, Stay Conference!

Betsy WilliamsBy: Betsy Williams, New Business Development And Training Specialist

For the ninth consecutive year, the Michigan Lean Consortium will be holding their annual conference at the Hagerty Center on the beautiful campus of Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City. Lean thinkers from across the state come to this signature learning event. I encourage all in the area to sign up and have a stay conference—be a continuous improvement fudgie!

The statewide mission is to develop and support lean system thinkers to transform Michigan’s organizations and economy. This year’s theme is “Be a Lean Transformer.” The conference will be August 7-8 with optional tours on Friday, August 9.

One of the keynote speakers will be Dan Vermeesch, Lean Champion, at Micron Manufacturing of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He will be sharing how to set a tempo, or takt, for your improvement system. Listen to a Podcast interview with Dan here. There will also be 16 breakout presentations to choose from over the course of two days.

In addition to the learning opportunities, there will be time to share and learn from other participants. So come get energized with others on their lean journey. I encourage lean thinkers at all levels of their journey to attend this stay conference as there is something for everyone!
