NMC Transfer Guide - MTA

Program: RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This program is designed to build on a basic nursing education (RN). Incorporating the expanded knowledge and technology of the current health care field, it provides the nurse with the theory-based knowledge and skills to provide care in a variety of health care settings including hospital, home, and community.

Admission Criteria

  1. A cumulative GPA of 2.5
  2. ENG 111, ENG 112, MTH 111 and 7-8 credits of science (BIO 227 & 228) completed with a C (2.0) or better.
  3. RN licensure
  4. Ferris requires a 2.0 or higher in each class to transfer.
  5. It is strongly recommended that students with transfer credits from other institutions work in conjunction with FSU advisors. Only FSU will be able to decide which classes will transfer into their Bachelor program other than those listed on this guide. All students should make contact with FSU as early in their academic career as possible and can do so via contacts below to schedule an appointment.
  6. Ferris requires 30 credits from Ferris, and 40 credits at the 300 or 400 level. With the Ferris courses required in the program, and the courses listed in this guide, you should meet both requirements. Deviation from this list, or courses transferring from another school may require you take additional 300 or 400 level courses at Ferris.

RN to BSN Nursing Advisor Contact:

ATTENTION: If you have your social science and/or humanities requirements taken already from a college or university other than NMC, please speak with an FSU advisor about whether you have met this requirement. FSU must determine how these courses will transfer to FSU.

If you have met the MTA Agreement and still need two 300/400 level classes for FSU, you may then choose any 2 of the 300/400 classes listed under Humanities and Social Science later on in this guide. Talk with an NMC or FSU advisor for further information.

Basic Requirements

A student must have an Associate Degree in Nursing and R.N. Licensure or be eligible to write the NCLEX-RN. In addition to the above requirements the following courses are requirements of Bachelor of Nursing degree at FSU: (Courses marked with a "*" have been completed under NMC's ADN program.) By completing the NMC classes below you will meet the MTA Agreement. Upon request at the NMC Records and Registration Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT (MTA) SATISFIED". If you do not receive the MTA Agreement, you will be required to meet Ferris's general education requirements. If you have questions regarding MTA please see a NMC advisor.
