NMC Transfer Guide - MTA
To: Lake Superior State University - Main Campus
Program: Mechanical Engineering
2 + 2 OR Traditional Application
Northwestern Michigan College, in connection with Lake Superior State University, offers a 2 + 2, inter-institutional program leading to the BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Students are selected into this program at NMC with the same admissions or curriculum transfer criteria that is used at LSSU. The students who successfully complete the first 2 years of the program at NMC are automatically enrolled as juniors at LSSU.
Students have a choice of two options:
- Design
- Robotics and Control Systems
Both programs prepare students for careers in industry by balancing theory, application, communication, and teamwork skills.
However, students not part of the 2 + 2 program can also apply to LSSU through the traditional route. Early application is necessary.
Basic Requirements
Completion of Basic Requirement courses at NMC (listed below) will fulfill the general requirements at LSSU. Upon request at the NMC Records and Registration Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT (MTA) SATISFIED".
