Admission Criteria
- GPA – Minimum of 3.2 overall required for admission consideration (except Mechanical - 3.6 and Computer Science, Chemical and Materials Sciences - 3.4).
- Major Courses – The following courses must be completed prior to admission into the Engineering program: CHM 150 (chemistry requirement for majors 3, 6 & 9 will be taken at MSU), MTH 141, 142 and PHY 221
- Transfer Grades – 2.0 grades required for transfer
- Transfer Credits – MSU will accept a maximum of 60 credits from a community college.
- Junior Status – Admission to Engineering program requires Junior status (56 acceptable credits).
- Program Entry – Admission into the Engineering dept is for Fall semester only. Students must be admitted into a specific Engineering major in order to take courses in that major.
- Campus Visits – A campus visit is the best way to learn about MSU. Online information is available on their website.
- MSU Contact: Email future-engineer@egr.msu.edu with your unofficial transcript in PDF format to schedule an appointment with MSU engineering transfer personnel.
Basic Requirements
The following courses are listed to facilitate transfer and fulfill University requirements at MSU. These courses may not fulfill requirements for the Associate of Arts or Science degree at NMC. If your goal is to complete an associate's degree before transferring, see an advisor for assistance.
Upon request at the NMC Records and Registration Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT (MTA) SATISFIED".
