Forestry
NMC Transfer Guide - MTA
To: Michigan Technological University - Main Campus
Program: Forestry
The educational program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Forestry is accredited by the Society of American Foresters (SAF). SAF is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Post- secondary Accreditation and by the U.S. Department of Education as the body forestry in the United States.
Forestry is a highly diversified field. Career opportunities exist in various public agencies as well as in private industry. Graduates may be employed as forest land managers or as specialists in such disciplines as forestry measurements, soils or municipal forestry. Further opportunities exist in areas of wood science and forest product utilization.
Basic Requirements
Because of the specificity of the program, Forestry majors may find it to their advantage to transfer after one year at NMC, completing only part of this guides suggestions. However, those choosing to stay longer may follow the entire guide. Following this guide will complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) requirements and will meet NMC's Associate of Science and Arts Degree Requirements as long as 60 credits are completed.
Note: If a student has already completed 24 credits in Communication, Social Science and/or Humanities but does not yet have the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) met, the student should contact Jean Burish at (906) 487-1621 prior to scheduling classes in this areas to discuss options.
See MTU's Forestry Guide for additional courses that will be taken at MTU.
