NMC Transfer Guide - MTA

This program is an accelerated degree-completion program designed to provide registered nurses (RNs) an opportunity to obtain a bachelor’s degree in a blended format with face-to-face classes two nights a month.

The program has three specialty area options:

  • The Leadership/Management specialty promotes synthesis of complex care issues with contemporary business and managed care practices.
  • The Gerontology specialty promotes comprehensive care for an aging population.
  • The Faith/Community Nursing specialty integrates faith and health promotion within communities.

Requirements And Credit Options

A minimum of 58 transferable credits are required in order to enter SAU’s bachelor degree completion programs. Transferable credits are defined as completed courses at the 100 level or higher receiving a grade of at least 2.0. As part of the 58 to 60 transferable credits, it would be beneficial for a transferring student to complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement at NMC prior to enrolling in Spring Arbor. The uniqueness of SAU is that you have a variety of options for completing credits. Up to 30 college credits can be earned based on life learning experience (licenses, seminars, etc.), through CLEP tests, through life learning papers, online courses, or credit earned from other colleges, including NMC. Since every student’s coursework profile is different, students are urged to speak with a Spring Arbor University advisor to better design a personalized plan for completing this degree.

Admission Criteria

  1. A minimum of 58 transfer credits (including MTA or completion or Spring Arbor's general education requirements)
  2. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for all prior college coursework
  3. Submit all official transcripts
  4. Submit a writing sample
  5. Courses marked with an * will be completed as part of the ADN degree.
  6. In order for MTA to transfer to Spring Arbor, it must be completed before the student starts the BSN program or the student must be actively taking the last of the courses to complete MTA when the BSN program is started.

Basic Requirements

Completion of Basic Requirement courses at NMC will fulfill the general education requirements at SAU. Upon request at the NMC Records and Registration Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) Satisfied."
