Program: Dental Hygiene B.S.
The University of Michigan School of Dentistry provides a Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene, designed to offer students an expanded education resulting in increased career opportunities after graduation. The program consists of 30 credits of college credits which can be completed at NMC. Upon admission into the program the dental hygiene program is three years. The bachelor's degree also prepares students who wish to go on to dental school. The hygienist with a bachelor's degree holds the same license to practice in a dental office as the associate degree hygienist.
Admission Criteria
- GPA - Minimum of 2.5 to be considered.
- Credits Required - 30 transferrable credits are required for admission.
- Students should apply by February 1st of the year acceptance is desired. Admission is for Fall only.
- Grades - Grades must be 2.0 or above to be considered for transfer. However the average GPA of incoming students is 3.4.
- Students who have an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from accredited schools and who are licensed to practice under state law (MI or any other state) may want to consider the Degree Completion Program.

Basic Requirements
Because of the specific nature of this program, it is recommended that students transfer immediately after completing the 30 credits necessary for admission.
Upon request at the NMC Records and Registration Office, a statement will be placed on your transcript, "MICHIGAN TRANSFER AGREEMENT (MTA) SATISFIED".
