NMC Transfer Guide - MTA
To: University of Michigan - Main Campus
Program: History
History majors are trained for careers in teaching, archival work or research. History studies also prepare students for a wide variety of pre-professional jobs such as journalism, law, architecture, and social work.
Admission Criteria
- GPA — 3.3 plus strong High School record if transferring as a sophomore (25–54 credits). 3.0 if transferring as a junior (55+credits).
- Transferable Courses — U of M will accept a maximum of 60 credits (62 credits with an Associate Degree).
- Credit Accepted — U of M will accept a maximum of 60 semester credits from NMC
- Minimum grade required for transfer — 2.0 or above
- Students are not required to have all the courses listed on this guide prior to admission to U of M. However we would recommend transferring the U of M credits back to NMC to complete an Associate Degree.
- NMC courses transfer as 100-level department credit. Students who hope to count classes toward their concentration or minor need to bring in paperwork about the course (syllabus, essays, quizzes, exams, etc). A faculty advisor will evaluate whether the demands of the class are similar to a 200-level course at U of M.
