Each program offered is completed in consultation with an advisor.
Admission Criteria
- GPA – 2.5 or above. (2.0 minimum in each class)
- Session of Entry – Fall Semester (Limited openings for January admission).
- Transfer – Students may transfer after one or two years.
- Application Deadline – December 1 for following Fall semester.
- Auditions – Auditions/Interviews are required. In-person strongly recommended. If not possible, taped auditions may be submitted. Please address inquiries to: School of Music, (724)-764-0593. Please contact U of M about Music Theory selections.
- Proficiency Exams – Placement in music theory and performance classes is determined by examination.
- Lessons – Private and class lessons are encouraged.

Five semesters of Music Theory and Sight Singing and Ear Training (one in Jr. year at U of M) are required. Taking these courses at NMC will not guarantee their transfer.
