Humanities Academic Area(231) 995-1325 Humanities includes course work in many different academic areas of study including:
The Humanities Academic Area provides instructional programs which fulfill student and community needs for a variety of job skills, Liberal Arts transfer requirements, and/or general education skills for all students (i.e. critical thinking, cultural enrichment, computer skills, reading/writing). We have state-of-the-art computer lab for our Visual Communications and Music majors, a new photography lab, private instrument instruction and offer opportunities to participate in a variety of musical ensembles and performance. In addition, we offer flexible learning options in computer software, history, philosophy, and music courses. The Visual Communications program at NMC prepares students for careers in Commercial Art, Advertising Design, Graphic Design, Computer Graphics and Advertising Illustration. Humanities Outcome StatementThe Humanities provides learning opportunities and exploration in critical thinking, cultural perspective and enrichment, reading and writing, and group activities to develop an understanding of the human endeavor through personal expression and scholarship.
