Conflict Resolution Policy – Faculty and Staff

It is the policy of Northwestern Michigan College that non-provisional, regular faculty and non-probationary staff members shall have access to appropriate internal channels for the purpose of addressing employment-related problems, conflicts, or concerns.

The Director of Human Resources, in conjunction with the appropriate faculty and staff, shall provide for the development of procedural guidelines that will encourage all parties to seek a solution to their problems on an informal basis and, finally, to establish a formal grievance procedure that will allow for the fair and timely resolution of problems that cannot be resolved through normal administrative channels on an informal basis.  Such procedures (Staff Procedure D-706.01) shall be published in the resource guides available in the Office of Human Resources and/or on the NMC web site found at nmc.edu/hr.

If any provision(s) of this policy or set of bylaws conflicts with laws applicable to Northwestern Michigan College, including the Community College Act of 1966, the Freedom of Information Act, or the Open Meetings Act, as each may be amended from time to time, such laws shall control and supersede such provision(s).
