Getting Started at NMC

Congratulations on your acceptance and enrollment at Northwestern Michigan College. Staying in touch with NMC in the weeks (or months) before you begin classes is so important and easy, there’s no reason not to do it! Below are a few things you’ll want do before the first day of class

NMC ID – You’ll receive instructions for activating your NMC ID both through mail and email. If you have questions about activating your ID, call NMC's Technology Help Desk at (231) 995-3020.

Accessing Your NMC E-mail »

NMC email – NMC provides each student with an email address (@mail.nmc.edu) which you should get in the habit of checking regularly. NMC, faculty, and staff correspondence will be primarily done through your student email. Don’t miss important information and critical updates about everything from financial aid to snow days.

Accessing Your NMC Self-Service »

NMC self-service – NMC Self-Service provides access to student information and allows you to view your schedule, final grades, contact info, and (yep, you guessed it) financial aid documents.

Accessing eLearning (Moodle) »

Moodle – Moodle is NMC's e-learning portal where your instructors will post reference materials and grades for face-to-face classes, and where your online classes will take place. Welcome to your new home online.

Student Training Videos – NMC provides a 20-minute guide to technology at NMC! Additionally, NMC offers a variety of technology and computing services to support your success. If you need technological support, contact the NMC Technology Help Desk.

Buying Textbooks »

Bookstore & Classroom Supplies – Use the campus bookstore website to search for new and used textbooks, rent or buy books online, or choose from a wide selection of merchandise.

Parking Permit »

Parking All students, faculty and staff of Northwestern Michigan College are required to have and display a valid parking permit if they park in the college lots on main campus during the fall and spring semesters. Students can obtain permits at the Campus Safety & Security office, Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center, Academic and Career Advising Center, and Financial Aid Office.

Did You Know: NMC students are eligible to utilize the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) for a reduced fare.

Getting your NMC Student ID Card »

Student ID – Obtain a FREE NMC ID! NMC ID cards can be used to load funds onto and make purchases at NMC food service locations. Students can also use their student ID card for discounts at many local businesses.
