Admission Requirements:

  • At least 17 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
  • United States citizen
  • Prior or pending misdemeanors, felonies or legal expungements must be adjudicated by the Maritime Admissions Office.
  • Merchant Mariner Credential Medical Evaluation Report (PDF)
  • Placement in math and English (this can be accomplished by any or a combination of the following):
    • Math Placement: Transferable college credits, Advanced Placement test scores, ACT/SAT that are less than 5 years old or COMPASS placement test that place you in Intermediate Algebra or higher (College Algebra preferred).
    • English Placement: Transferable college credits, Advanced Placement test scores, ACT/SAT scores or COMPASS placement test that place you in College level English Composition.

  • Maritime classes begin annually each Fall.
  • The Academy admits approximately 60 cadets each year on a rolling basis.
