Transfer Students (if you have earned college credit(s) previously and are not in high school)

Admission Requirements:

  • At least 17 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
  • United States citizen
  • No prior or pending misdemeanors, felonies or legal expungements
  • Merchant Mariner Credential Medical Evaluation Report (PDF)
  • Placement in math and English (this can be accomplished by any or a combination of the following):
    • Transferable college credits that place you in or out of math (Intermediate Algebra or higher) and English Composition.
    • Current COMPASS placement test results that place you in math (Intermediate Algebra or higher) and English Composition.
    • ACT or SAT scores that are less than 5 years old (below are minimum requirements).

Important dates

  • Maritime classes for incoming first-year cadets begin Fall semester only.
  • Formal reviews for acceptance will be made by the Director of Admissions on a rolling basis until the class is full.
  • The Academy admits approximately 60 cadets each year; early completion of application materials is advised.
  • FAFSA forms should be completed as soon as possible after Jan. 1 to be eligible for maximum aid.
