The Great Lakes Maritime Academy

and Northwestern Michigan College with support from the United States Maritime Administration host the

2017 Women on the Water Conference

October 26–28, 2017, Great Lakes Campus

Welcome to the ninth annual Women on the Water Conference hosted by the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in partnership with the Maritime Administration. Cadets, regardless of gender, are invited to participate from all six state maritime academies, the Federal Academy as well as our neighbors to the North, Georgian Maritime College at little or no cost. The purpose of the conference is to provide cadets an opportunity to learn from professional mariners and industry representatives as well as maritime professional development speakers. There will also be time and activities to foster camaraderie and networking with their peers.

Traverse City is a beautiful resort area and has won numerous awards including "Condé Nast Traveler" (January 2016) - "The Most Beautiful Towns in America" and "Thrillist" (May 2016) - 25 Best Small US Cities to Spend the Weekend. Fall is a great time to visit, so be sure to plan plenty of time around the conference to enjoy the natural and man-made attractions in our area! The conference will be held waterfront on our Great Lakes Campus and cadets can register for the complimentary berthing on our Training Ship State of Michigan during the conference. The area has many resorts and hotels, please visit our "Lodging & Transportation" tab to learn more.
