Thank you for joining NMC students for a community-wide block party to celebrate 75 incredible years! We wrapped up the spring semester by inviting students, alumni, staff, faculty, families neighbors and friends to join the festivities. Everyone was welcome for an afternoon of carnival thrills, tasty bites from local food trucks and live music.

Guests tested their aim at the dunk tank, bounced around on bounce houses, took a spin on the rides and enjoyed all the carnival fun. There was something for every age and every thrill level!

Swoop, NMC's newest addition, swooped in around 3:30 p.m. for a special appearance, giving everyone a chance for a selfie with our favorite hawk owl!

Event schedule

  • Carnival rides: 3–7 p.m.
  • Local food trucks: 3–7 p.m.
  • Welcome Swoop, NMC’s new mascot: 3:30 p.m.
  • Music from local favorites Trillium Groove and Sordid Orchids.

Carnival rides were free, and guests enjoyed food and drinks from local food trucks that were available for purchase.

Earlier in the day, Northwestern Michigan College's Native American Student Organization hosted a traditional pow wow on campus to honor 2026 graduates.

The 75th Anniversary Student and Community Block Party was put on by Residence Life, Campus Life, NMC Student Government, East Hall Council, North Hall Council, Phi Theta Kappa, NMC Student Life, NMC Security and the 75th Anniversary Steering Committee.
