Local Veterans for Peace chapter silent auction/jazz concert fundraiser at Dennos, June 21

TRAVERSE CITY — Veterans for Peace, Chapter 50 will hold a silent auction/jazz concert fundraiser at Northwestern Michigan College, Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 7–10 p.m.

This fundraiser will be held at the Dennos Museum Center and is in conjunction with the exhibit of contemporary Chinese photographers and the sculpts of Seungmo Park. Sculptor Seungmo Park from Seoul, Korea creates giant ephemeral portraits and landscape scenes by meticulously cutting layer after layer of wire mesh to create his Maya (meaning “illusion” in Sanskrit) and by meticulously wrapping cast forms to create his aluminum wire sculptures.

Proceeds will benefit the John Lewis Veterans for Peace Scholarship Fund which awards $1,000 annually to a student with financial need who is a veteran or the descendent of a veteran.
