English Placement Flowchart

Effective Spring 2025

  • Placement is determined by the highest measure (SAT/ACT test scores, high school GPA, or GED).
  • SAT, ACT, and GED scores do not expire.
  • GPA must reflect at least 3 semesters of high school. GPA does not expire.
  • See the final box if you have a GED score below 175, no SAT/ACT test scores, or no GPA.
  • You are eligible for an English honors contract if you have an SAT "Evidence-Based Reading and Writing" test score of 560+, ACT "Writing" and "Reading" scores of 24+, or a GPA of 3.70+.

 

Is my score on the SAT "Evidence-Based Reading and Writing" test at least 480?
OR
Is my score on the ACT "Writing" test at least 18 and the ACT "Reading" test at least 19?

OR
Is my score on the GED test at least 175?

Yes.

My placement is English 111.
