Technical Requirements
Purchasing a laptop for college is a big decision. Technology requirements vary depending on the type of course you are taking. Some courses do not specify a particular type of technology, but most courses, regardless of the delivery method, now include a web-based component to enhance instruction.
Recommended Specifications
Windows PC and Mac
- Intel i5 14400, AMD Ryzen 5 7600, or equivalent processor
- 16GB of RAM
- 256GB SSD
- Windows 11 or above
- macOS 15 or higher
- DSL or cable internet with 10 Mbps speed
- Monitor, speakers, webcam, and microphone

Course Specific Hardware and Software
Be sure to check the course's special instructions or syllabi for specific hardware or software requirements.
- Engineering Technology courses:
- Intel i7 14400, AMD Ryzen 7 7600, or equivalent processor
- 32GB RAM
- 1TB SSD
- Graphics adapter with at least 16GB GDDR
- Windows 11 Pro or above OR macOS 24
- DSL or cable internet with 100 Mbps speed
- EGR113 and EGR220: Requires Windows OS.
- Visual Communication courses: MacBook Pro preferred. For PC: Graphics card with at least 8GB VRAM.
