A piece of journalism that the student wrote this year should be submitted when applying. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Our scholarships can be applied to through the NMC General Scholarship Application. After you have completed the general application, an overnight processing program will run, and the next day you will be matched with specific scholarship opportunities that you qualify for that require applications. Once the overnight processing has matched you with scholarships, you will be able to find our Merit award, the Joseph Noverr Award, and the Jaquish Journalism award. After the scholarship system has processed your general application, you can search for these specific scholarships and complete the additional questions needed (described above within the eligibility criteria).

If interested in applying for these scholarships, note that applications and supporting information should be submitted between January 1 and March 1 each year.

Department Awards

The English, Speech and World Languages departments award honors to promising and outstanding students in each area at the NMC Honors Convocation each the spring. These honors come with a certificate of recognition and a small monetary gift. These awards serve as a way for each department to recognize students who did not apply for or did not qualify for our area scholarships, but who are deserving of recognition and celebration for their studies in our academic areas. Students are chosen for department awards based on instructor nominations.
