Michigan College Credit for Apprenticeship Programs

The intent of this agreement is to allow individuals who have completed one of the following Registered Apprenticeship Programs the ability to be awarded credit at Northwestern Michigan College that can be applied toward an Associate degree:

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Applicants must enroll in a qualifying degree program:
  2. Upon completion of the required courses and meeting the minimum graduation requirements of Northwestern Michigan College, an Associate Degree will be awarded.
  3. Completion of at least 15 NMC Credits, with a cumulative GPA of a 2.0 or higher, is required before the Associate Degree can be issued.
  4. Normal college requirements and policies apply including admission and grading.
  5. Individuals enrolling under this agreement should declare their program of study and contact a program advisor. To facilitate the evaluation of credit, students should provide their NMC student ID and a copy of their completed apprenticeship documentation to the NMC Record’s Office, records@nmc.edu.
  6. Credits articulated will transfer and appear on the student’s transcript in compliance with college policy:
    • Associate in General Studies (AGS) up to 45 credits
    • Technical Management Administration (AAS) up to 30 credits
  7. Students will need to take the Math and English Placement Testing if they pursue the Associate in General Studies (AGS) or Technical Management Administration (AAS) degree. There are no fees or costs for the testing.
